Host a Movie Party!

35th_birthday_hollywood_movie_party_square_sticker-r7b12a15104064d1caf016db4ed582e9e_v9wf3_8byvr_512The San Luis Obispo International Film Festival would like to help you host a unique and memorable movie party this summer or fall!
Here’s how it works:

We supply your choice of movie(s) that have been screened at the past six or seven SLO Film Fest’s! We can supply a list of what’s available or you may already have a favorite in mind that you’d love to share with your friends. If we have a copy of it, we’ll lend it to you, library-style. You could do an evening of great short films, a short and a feature, or just a feature-length film.

You host the party, invite your friends, decide what kind of food you’ll serve and voila! You’ve got the makings of an epic evening that your friends will talk about for the rest of the year! It might even be so successful that you’ll want to form a “Movie Club”, much like a Book Club – and do regular screenings with a discussion after.

movie_party3_im1What’s in it for us, you ask? We’ll supply a 4 minute promotional video about the SLOIFF that we’d ask you to play first, giving newcomers to the Festival a chance to find out what it’s all about. We’ll also provide sponsorship information and ask the party hosts to encourage their guests to become SLOIFF Film Society members if possible. If you form a club, perhaps the club would consider making one collective donation to become sponsors of a 2014 Festival film.

169outdoorsetupIf you’d like to host an outdoor screening, we can provide the projection equipment for a reasonable fee, which would include set-up and breakdown.

The San Luis Obispo International Film Festival is proud to give back to our community! Each year, we partner with different non-profit organizations to share movies, visibility and profits and this year, we’ve donated a total of $5,500 to four good causes: Cal Poly Wine and Viticulture Program, Alex Maier Scholarship Fund, Friends of Hearst Castle and the American Film Institute. We also partnered with the Growing Together Initiative, Tranz Central Coast, Cal Poly’s Expressive Technology Studios and Allan Hancock College’s Film & Video Program.

Please help us continue to spread awareness about important issues through the powerful magic of movies! To find out how you can become a sponsor or get more involved, please get in touch with me and/or visit our website to learn more. Movies Matter!
