PRESENTED BY JUSTIN WINERY & VESPERA RESORT ON PISMO BEACH & THE DOLPHIN BAY RESORT & SPA
Join us for our most highly anticipated evening as we celebrate award-winning films as well as our 2022 King Vidor Award Recipient on the stage of the historic Fremont Theater.
Filmmakers and special guests will grace the Red Carpet leading up to the awards ceremony hosted by John Wildman. The George Sidney Independent Film Awards, presented each year in several categories, are juried by film and media professionals in the industry.

The King Vidor Award is named for prolific director King Vidor, who became a leader in a fledgling industry that began around the time he was born, in 1894. He was the first president of the Directors Guild of America, one of the few directors to successfully shift from the silent era to “talkies,” and was responsible for an impressive number of enduring classics. Over the last 27 years, this award has been presented to a series of talented individuals who fulfill the high standards set by this amazing man, who also had a passion for his ranch in Paso Robles.

We are very proud of the wide array of amazing individuals who have visited San Luis Obispo since 1993, bringing their humor and memorable charisma to the Fremont Theater.

Receiving this year’s King Vidor Award will be veteran character actor, Dale Dickey, who has received much attention as one of the stars of Max Walker-Silverman’s romantic drama, A Love Song – one of this year’s official selection films.

One of Hollywood’s most coveted character actors, Dale Dickey forged a reputation for illuminating gritty, dark, and oftentimes damaged characters. Following inspired performances onstage, including the Broadway production of “The Merchant of Venice” (1989) and the 2009 stage adaptation of “A Streetcar Named Desire,” Dickey has put together an enviable list of performances together in films like Sordid Lives (2000), Winter’s Bone (2010), Super 8 (2011), Iron Man 3 (2013), Hell or High Water (2016), and Palm Springs (2020), and on countless television shows like The X-FilesTrue BloodBreaking Bad, and My Name is Earl. Her role in A Love Song is a well-deserved lead in a feature that has been critically acclaimed since its debut at Sundance earlier this year.
