SLO FILM FESTIVAL: APRIL 25-30 2024 ENCORE MAY 1-5

PANEL: SOUND DESIGN

SPONSORED BY NEW TIMES

Sound is one of those aspects of a movie that you don’t realize the importance of until it’s missing or done badly. Rarely getting the credit they deserve, we’re bringing together a group of folks in the sound industry to talk about their processes, influences, and the invisibility of their extremely important craft. From making sloppy footsteps more crisp, to dictating the feeling a scene is supposed to embody with the background score, and engineering sounds that we can’t easily gather on set, these professionals are here to talk about an important piece of film that we all take for granted.

BROOK MUNRO
Brook Munro is a California Central Coast native who writes music for film, trailers, and podcasts.  When he was young, his mother introduced him to Star Wars and his father gave him his first record by The Clash, igniting a flame that would lead Brook to guitar playing, touring in bands, and inevitably film scoring.  As a composer, he explores storytelling through a musical lense to help tell the story at hand.  Brook loves collaborating closely with filmmakers and producers to bring their vision to life.
