Join local effects legends David Hardberger and Jeff Barnes whose combined credits include Pan’s Labyrinth and The Lord of the Rings as they delve into the history of Special and Visual Effects explaining the difference and how some of those related techniques on each side could be used separately and together for projects of all sizes today.

JEFF BARNES – Executive Vice President of Creative Development at Light Field Lab
Nam ed one of the top 200 creative people in the world by Entertainment Weekly magazine, Jeff Barnes previously co-founded and led powerhouse entertainment and visual effects companies, including CaféFX, The Syndicate, and Sententia Entertainment.  His studios were world-class providers of award-winning imagery on over 80 studio-released feature films including, “Armageddon”, “The Aviator.” “Pan’s Labyrinth,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Iron Man,” and Universal Studios theme park ride, “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.”  Jeff was an executive producer of “Danika” starring Marisa Tomei and the more recent indie coming-of-age film, “Coast.”
Barnes has actively contributed to the development, support and advancement of the creative community, serving as chairman and recently awarded Honorary Lifetime Member of the globally recognized Visual Effects Society (VES). He is also a member of the Producers Guild of America (PGA) and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE). He was an executive producer of the feature film “Danika” starring Marisa Tomei and the more recent indie coming of age film, “Coast.”

 

 

DAVID HARDBERGER – Filmmaker / VFX Artist
Working with legendary effects wizard Doug Trumbull (Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Bladerunner, Star Trek – The Motion Picture, Brainstorm) and at Industrial Light & Magic (Return of the Jedi, Star Trek II – Wrath of Khan, Willow) David’s film career has spanned several decades in visual effects. He switched to the live action world working as an assistant cameraman on television shows, feature filmsand several of Trumbull’s ShowScan projects.
