There was a lot of disappointment surrounding the abrupt cancellation of last year’s festival and even though we were quickly able to offer many festival films online, Surf Nite was one event that was hard to quickly share that way. Surf Nite in SLO is one of those rare events that is fueled by the energy and enthusiasm of the crowd that attends each year. So it is with great excitement that we announce the return of the movie we wanted to present in March 2020 – this time on the Super Big Screen at the landmark Sunset Drive-in! And it’s a double-feature no less!
Brent Storm’s award-winning WHITE RHINO is a parallel story from the surfers and photographers who witnessed three historic swells that hit the shorelines of the South Pacific in 2011-2012. Photographer Brian Bielmann takes the audience on an edge-of-your-seat adventure to discover the stories behind some of Bielmann’s most iconic photos and what really transpired on those memorable days. Features notable big wave riders Nathan Fletcher, Dave Wassel, Bruce Irons and Mark Healey, as well as cinematography from some of the best surf filmmakers in the world. TRAILER
Bruce Brown’s classic 1964 ENDLESS SUMMER will round out the event! Follow surfers Mike Hynson and Robert August on a fun-loving adventure around the world as they chase the perfect wave. It’s going to be another memorable Surf Nite, so get your tickets soon!
