THE ADVENTURES OF PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT (1994)

Two drag queens and a transgender woman travel across the Australian Outback in a tour bus they’ve named “Priscilla” to perform their unique style of cabaret.

NOT AVAILABLE DURING THE VIRTUAL ENCORE FESTIVAL.

A NOTE FROM SKYE MCLENNAN, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (2021-PRESENT):

As a young girl, the first time I watched this film was a revelation. It transported me to the desolate, yet strangely rich outback where my grandparents and father had lived. The characters boldly navigated conservative mining towns and embraced their queerness and vibrant drag culture without apology. It was a groundbreaking film setting the stage for future queer cinema, and while it could benefit from a modern update, it stands as a testament to how far we’ve progressed.

Make sure to arrive early, as you might just see Queen or two make their grand entrance before the screening!
