IT ALL BEGINS WITH A SONG: The Story of the Nashville Songwriter
With Special Guests Jude Johnstone and Jade Jackson

Join us for a celebration of the unsung heroes of Nashville! We all hum their tunes. We know their words by heart. And we tell the story of our own lives through their art. Yet few of us know their names. This is a film about one of the most important and unknown forces in music: the Nashville songwriter. Drawing from more than 100 hours of footage this entertaining documentary directed by Chusy Jardine includes more than 80 interviews with well-known and lesser-known music industry figures and songwriters, such as Garth Brooks, Ben Folds, John Hiatt, Alison Mosshart, Kacey Musgraves and Keb’ Mo.’

After the movie, we’ll meet Nashville singer-songwriters, with Central Coast roots, Jude Johnstone and Jade Jackson. They’ll chat with the film’s director Chusy Jardine, about their personal experiences and entertain with a few of their original songs.

Jude Johnstone

Covered by Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, Bette Midler, Johnny Cash, Stevie Nicks, Trisha Yearwood and more, Jude Johnstone has released 8 CDs, garnered a BMI Award and has opened shows for Jackson Browne, Shawn Colvin, Chris Hillman and many others, as well as touring Europe numerous times as a solo performer.

Jade Jackson

Santa Margarita born and raised, 29 year old Jade Jackson has a much shorter history in music. Her first album, recorded in 2017, was a critically acclaimed introduction to her soulful stylings, made stronger by a long recovery from a tragic accident in 2012. With her newest album, Wilderness, Jackson has figured out a course for survival – although she’s the first to admit that her journey still has miles to go.
