The perfectly cast Pushing Dead is a warm, gentle and meandering comedy – about HIV! Dan (James Roday) is a longtime HIV-positive writer (and bouncer at his friend Bob’s bar). When Dan is suddenly dropped from his prescription drug plan (on a technicality), there’s no way he can afford to dole out $3000 a month. As he tries to navigate his way through the mess that is today’s healthcare system, his friends are also struggling with their own problems. Wonderful supporting cast includes Danny Glover (as Bob), Robin Weigert as Dan’s roommate, and Khandi Alexander as Bob’s estranged wife. Dramedy. 111 min. USA.
