RUTA MADRE (Going South)

Sponsored by Latino Outreach Council
Ruta Madre is a bi-national road trip comedy and a bilingual cinematic love letter to Mexico, as told through the eyes of a young Mexican-American musician. Based on a true story, it tells the tale of Daniel (David Castro), who reluctantly leaves his home in San Diego to embark on an epic road trip with his well-meaning, but immature uncle Rodrigo (William Miller) who wants Daniel to reconnect with his Mexican “roots.” Along the way, Daniel (a Latino who can’t speak Spanish) and Rodrigo encounter many colorful and offbeat characters, played by a wonderful ensemble cast, including Paul Rodrigues. Comedy. 86 min. Mexico/USA.
