THE BIG CHILL (1983)

Sponsored by Franklin M. Seiple, Architect

A bittersweet reunion of 30-something college friends is both cathartic and revealing, when eight friends pour out their hearts after a funeral for one of their old pals. Amidst laughter, tears and a raucous dinner cooked in the big Southern house they’ve rented for the weekend, writer/director Lawrence Kasdan manages to perfectly explore a generation of college graduates who’ve moved on to adulthood and all its complexities. The iconic soundtrack and kitchen dance scene live on in most “boomers” memories but its eighties sensibilities are still trending. Winner of the TIFF People’s Choice Award, and nominated for three Academy Awards.
